Golf Courses & Resorts

Golf courses and golf club resorts

Want some bragging rights at your local golf club? Then come to Australia’s #1 golf destination. Take a small but beautiful peninsula of land with a mild maritime climate. Create a coastline with perfect conditions for links courses. Add sand dunes for natural contours, with fast-draining sandy soil. Then transform the hinterland to create even more golf terrain with bush backdrops and brilliant views.

As Australia’s #1 golf destination, golfers simply adore it because of the incredible diversity presented by 15 clubs with 19 links, parkland and resort courses. And when it’s only a few minutes’ drive between each course, you can pack in a lot of golf. You can play at any time too - the golf is truly year round, with a mild climate, fast-draining sandy soils and sand dunes creating some tricky challenges.

Peter Thomson is just one of the golf legends who have designed some of our magnificent courses. Robert Trent Jones Jnr, Ross Perrett, Tony Cashmore, Tom Doak and Greg Norman have all been inspired by the extraordinary terrain on the Mornington Peninsula. The result: it’s no wonder this extraordinary region has been likened by many leading golf writers and top players to California’s Monterey, Scotland’s Fife and the Hamptons near New York. So why not start at the top of the Peninsula and work your way south. And the bonuses? Spectacular coastal views, excellent on-course accommodation and great packages.

Moonah Links Golf Resort

The Moonah Links Golf Complex is the largest golf tourism development in recent Victorian history and consists of two world class courses - the Open Course and the Legends Course.

In addition, a fully integrated Golf clubhouse provides conference facilities, Spike Bar, Members' Lounge, Pebbles Restaurant as well as men's and ladies' locker and change rooms.

'The Championship Course' at Moonah Links is the first ever 18 holes built and prepared for a national championship, with exceptional viewing platforms for spectators. It was the venue for the 2003 Australian Open and is one of the longest courses in Australia, and probably in the world in this category.

In contrast to the Open Course which was purpose built to challenge the modern champion, the Legends Course is a more friendly golfing experience for players of all ages and abilities. The course is a loop of 18 holes that generally follow the valleys through a variety of landscapes ranging from ancient Moonah woodlands to open links land.

This Champion style Sgolf course is 36 holes and 72 pars.
