If you want encounters with larger than life marine mammals you’ve come to the right place. Bottlenose and common dolphins can regularly be seen frolicking in the bay and showing off. Dive charters offer once in a life time experiences where you can snorkel with these energetic marine mammals and see first-hand their enchanting trademark smiles. The bay also receives regular visits from majestic Humpback Whales and the occasional Southern Right Whale.
Seals are frequently found lazing about on piers, but for a guaranteed encounter with these cheeky and playful pinnipeds head out to Chinaman’s Hat Seal colony which is home to dozens of fur seals. They spend most of the day basking in the sun, but as soon as friends come to play they are quick to dive in and join the fun, performing the underwater acrobatics for which they are renowned. They love to get up close and personal and peer into your mask to marvel at their own reflection. Like underwater puppies these curious creatures are as likely to nibble your fins as they are to steal your heart.
