Queenscliff-Sorrento Car and Passenger Ferry

Find Your Way Enjoy one of the world's great coastal journeys onboard Searoad Ferries. Sail the bay aboard a world-class car and passenger ferry on a spectacular 40-minute crossing between Sorrento and Queenscliff, linking Victoria's most magnificent coastal regions.

Two ships provide hourly departures from each charming village between 7am and 6pm, seven days a week (extra sailings operate in the summer peak). Just 75 cars are accommodated on the MV Queenscliff and the MV Sorrento, so this drive-on-drive-off experience is a very smooth and easy way to continue your road trip. With your car parked safely below deck, you choose a vantage point high above the sea, cruising past highlights including millionaires’ mansions, historic bathing boxes, the 19th century Quarantine Station and pristine Point Nepean National Park. It’s a bird’s eye view that’s incomparable to any sights from the land.

The ships are modern with relaxed contemporary decor, cafes serving snacks and beverages including barista-made coffee, and bar services featuring fine wines from the Mornington and Bellarine peninsulas. There’s plenty of open deck space to catch the sun and the sea breezes (tip: go towards the bow and you may see Melbourne’s famous bottlenose dolphins playing in the bow waves). Indoors, very spacious lounge areas feature huge floor to ceiling windows to take in the glorious views. You’ll find a variety of spaces to relax in, including private nooks, comfortable couches, cafe tables and chairs for groups and families, swivel club chairs with coffee tables, and bars (the Portsea Lounge on the MV Sorrento, and a new lounge to open on the MV Queenscliff in late 2017). There is a children’s play area and colouring corner, as well as binoculars on the outside decks to have a close up look/see of the passing scenery. Free wi-fi keeps you connected and a charging station for travellers. Foot passengers can also take a day trip to explore the villages, a short walk from the ferry terminal.

  • Special Features:
Crossing Melbourne’s beautiful Port Phillip Bay, the 40 minute car & passenger ferry crossing is a great alternative to the 3 hour drive around. Spot dolphins, see spectacular scenery and enjoy the views from behind floor to ceiling windows or from the external decks. Facilities include comfortable lounges, onboard Café, children’s play area, binoculars and free wi-fi on board. Easy drive on/drive off for cars, motorhomes, coaches. The ferry connects the Mornington Peninsula to the Bellarine & Great Ocean Road. Avoid city traffic, boring freeways and toll roads.

  • Opening Hours:
Every hour on the hour from 7am to 6pm, 7 days a week, with a 7pm departure everyday from December 26th-January 31st.
