Public Art comes to life across the Mornington Peninsula

The Mornington Peninsula Shire in collaboration with schools, foreshore committees, historical societies, chambers of commerce and artists, have developed an augmented reality trail from Portsea to Rosebud. Seven sites have been transformed by augmented reality experiences to bring them to life in new ways.

Through an innovative use of new and emerging digital technologies, these experiences offer fun, free ways to explore this beautiful region and interact with public art. Young and old alike can watch the fisherman bobbing in his rubber duck trying to catch the cheeky fish at the Fisherman mural at the new Napier Street Plaza in Rye by Mika Husser.

In Tootgarook see the Dolphins and Old Wives murals by Sheldon Headspeath come to life, including drawings of marine life by local school students from Capel Sound Kindergarten and Tootgarook Primary School.
In Blairgowrie observe humpback whales swimming around you or play with a virtual kite on the Rosebud Foreshore, the site of the Kite Festival. Step back in time in Sorrento and Portsea and imagine what the streets were like more than 100 years ago.

To experience the augmented reality trail, view and interact with animations and soundscapes via a smart phone or tablet. Download the free app ‘EyeJack’ or scan the QR code on the site.
