Mornington Peninsula is officially Australia’s ‘Delicious’ region!

At the prestigious national ‘delicious. Produce Awards’  this week, the Mornington Peninsula was declared the overall Australian trophy winner in the ‘Outstanding Region’ category. Chosen from among all the region’s across Australia, this is well deserved recognition that the Mornington Peninsula has successfully established itself as a truly outstanding culinary destination.

The delicious. Produce Awards, now in their 13th year, unearth and champion Australia’s best and most innovative primary produce and producers with an emphasis on provenance, seasonality and sustainable production methods; they also showcase the people, places and craftsmanship that create a high-quality dining experience for which Australia is renowned. In 2018 the spotlight was shone on new, innovative, native and consistently outstanding Australian ingredients grown, caught, sourced or produced with dedication, passion, knowledge and regard for the environment.

38 judges from across the food industry – chefs, producers, critics, restaurateurs - judge across the 15 categories that celebrate Australia’s best tasting primary produce, innovative Australian drink-makers, and the best talent among the young chefs, as well as benchmarking products of exceptional quality in a sustainable and ethical way. The winners are selected from products  and experiences that have been nominated by Australia’s leading chefs and shine a light on trailblazing producers and artisans who are finding innovative ways to grow and raise not only some of the consistently best-tasting produce, but produce that is both seasonal and sustainable.
