Laura: Australian New Restaurant of the Year

Beating the city contenders and everyone else in Australia

A big congratulations to our talented Mornington Peninsula restaurants who carried off a number of awards at the 2019 Good Food Guide Awards last night. In a history making effort 'Laura' at Pt Leo Estate beat all the city restaurants and  was chosen from among all the restaurants in Australia as the most deserving of the title of New Restaurant of the Year (and won a Two Chefs Hat  award as well). The critics and judges were impressed with the connection that chef Phil Wood has to the land, soil and sea, as well as the impressive service and winelist - let alone the ambience created by a world class sculpture park on view through the restaurant windows.

Plus Chefs Hats  to Pt Leo Restaurant (Pt Leo), and (again) to Doot Doot Doot at Jackalope (Balnarring), Montalto (Red Hill South)  and Paringa Estate (Red Hill South) who continue to deliver a high callibre foodie experience reflective of the region.

"There are so many good food experiences on the Mornington Peninsula", said Tracey Cooper, Chair Mornington Peninsula Regional Tourism. "These awards demonstrate the depth and breadth of the offering in our region. We are certainly very blessed to have these talented people delivering such high callibre experiences."
