In a show of the outstanding skills of our local cider makers, the Mornington Peninsula achieved some great results at the recent 2019 Australian Cider Awards with 6 medallists - one gold, one silver and four bronze.
Hosted by Cider Australia, the show promotes and rewards excellence in cider production and brings together the Australian cider community in a celebration of the cider category’s rapid advancement. A field of 267 Australian and international entries across 24 classes were judged by a panel of respected industry professionals and international guest judges from the UK and New Zealand.
To achieve medal status the ciders must achieve a minimum number of points: Gold: 92.5 – 100 points, Silver: 85 – 92 points, and Bronze: 77.5 – 84.5 points, with the highest number of points in the gold medal range achieving the prestigious Best in Class status.
