Have you ever taken a trip and wondered where would the locals go? Most of the time, they may seem like the best kept secret but generally they are in plain view of all of us. Take a journey of discovery just off the beaten path. You will be rewarded with some of our best kept local locations that are sure to be a hit when you visit the Mornington Peninsula.
At the top of the list is Devilbend Reservoir. Most frequented by locals, this location is definitely worth a visit and on a great day, provides some Instaworthy locations where you might just capture the perfect picture of reflections on the water or be greeted by some amazing wildlife.
The reserve is on the Western Port side of the Mornington Peninsula and is 422 hectares of native vegetation with 250 hectares of water. The trail system is very accessible for all levels of walkers. The main walk is the Western Shoreline Track which is only 1.2km in length and leads you to some great views over the reservoir, to the boardwalks and fishing platforms. For the more adventurous, the Devilbend Circuit track is 11.5km and goes around the reservoir.

Moorooduc
Where is this you ask? Between Mount Eliza and Mornington, you may have driven through and past this town so many times and never known it was there. Highly accessible and offering many places to explore. A playground of places to visit for young and old here are just a few places you could explore.
Pure Peninsula Honey call Moorooduc home where you can sample and buy some of the region’s most delicious honey. Take a look at the live bee display where you will see bees hard at work making some of sweetest and most fragrant honey produced in Australia. Our top tip is to try the honey ice-cream! Unlike the name suggests, Mornington Railway’s main station and train yard is in Moorooduc. With easy access off the Moorooduc Freeway and a team of volunteers that are passionate about all things trains, this stop is one not to be missed! Okay, Mr Banks Brewery is not such a secret. Sure, you may have tasted their beer, but have you visited the brewery taproom where all the magic happens? Located in a quiet cul-de-sac in the Seaford Industrial Estate is the home of Banks. Founded by husband-and-wife duo Chris and Penny Farmer, they have a large array of brews, and the taproom is a great location to spend an hour or two sampling their greatest hits and latest creations. Known for their award-winning cider, Hart's Farm is plain and simply a beautiful place to visit! The Farm started its life as a working dairy and now the rustic tasting shed, previously the milking shed, can be found down Tucks Road, a quite unassuming address in Shoreham. The team at Hart’s produce cider, olive oil and specialty cordials. Now you might get there and see the dirt road and think you are lost, but let us assure you – this is a great road to be lost on with two other beautiful wineries close by that are also worth a visit.
