Calling All Kids! Here Is Your Guide To Ultimate School Holiday Fun

The start of school holidays is only days away, hip hip hooray! And you may find the mind is ticking over things to do with the kids to make the most of the spring break. Luckily, you’re in the right place reading this blog! We’ve compiled together top experiences and activities on the Mornington Peninsula that we know both you and the young ones will love. Calendar at the ready? Let’s get planning!

Iconic Experiences

We’re pretty fortunate to have such a vast collection of iconic experiences here on the Mornington Peninsula. And throughout the springtime, you’ll be hard-pressed to look past taking part in one of these pursuits. They’re all family-friendly too! Take to the skies and ride on an Arthurs Seat Eagle gondola, where eyes will be glued to some of the best scenic outlooks across the region. Back on land, get up close to the furry, fluffy and ever-friendly companions at Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park in Pearcedale. The Night Tours here are a top recommendation from us! Keen to stay out under the starry night sky? Head on over to the Dromana 3 Drive-In to enjoy the latest film release from the cosiness of your car.

Three terrific (and iconic) experiences, where will you start these school holidays? For more information, click on the link here for Arthurs Seat Eagle, here for Moonlit Sanctuary and here for the Dromana 3 Drive-In.

For The Adventurous At Heart

There’s no doubt we all have an adventurous spirit at heart! And there are so many top adventurous activities to enjoy these school holidays on the Mornington Peninsula. Located in Mornington, Locked in Escape Rooms has four exciting rooms dedicated to puzzle solving, code cracking and of course, escaping! Once back outside in the open air, why not head over to the Mornington Tourist Railway with trains running on each Sunday of every month! The return service from Moorooduc to Mornington is a fun-filled family experience with plenty of scenic sights. Finally, Sk8house in Carrum Downs has all the best skating adventures. They’re even hosting an Elvis Night for those who just love the king of Rock & Roll!

Something Creative

Is creativity calling these spring school holidays? The Mornington Peninsula has numerous activities to suit. Starting on the high seas, Searoad Ferries in Sorrento introduces two quirky but completely joyful events on board the vessel. Dazzling Dan The Magic Man will roam the ferry with all his best magic tricks. And the Krazy Koala Puppet Show will make way for a singing and comedy spectacle! Continuing along the artistic avenue, the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery will host colourful and informative school holiday workshops throughout the two weeks. Finally, Red Hill Candle Co in Dromana will be running their popular School Holiday Candle Making Workshops for those keen to create their very own signature candles!

Out In The Great Outdoors

The great outdoors are amazing in spring, don’t you agree? To make the most of the warmer season, we think getting out in nature is one of the best pursuits for these school holidays. With thrilling activities and beautiful gardens, Enchanted Adventure: The Home Of Tree Surfing in Arthurs Seat and Boneo Discovery Park in Fingal have become top locations for unbeatable outdoor adventure. Heading in the direction of Mount Martha, The Briars will be hosting their Briars Junior Ranger: Season Run program with multiple dates available. This is a kids-only event including a meet and greet with local animals! Coinciding with the Melbourne Show, Rain, Hayne & Shine in Balnarring will bring all the cuteness this spring. Their family-focused farmyard fun event titled Showtime is a must-see!

A Delicious Bite To Eat

Who’s hungry? It’s fair to say you’ll work up an appetite after engaging in one (or more) of the many listed experiences. Yet there’s no need to fear! For the Mornington Peninsula restaurant, cafe and dining destinations are all so tasty...let’s hear a cheer! Green Olive at Red Hill is home to an Olympic trampoline, fully equipped playground and child-friendly menu. It's also dog friendly and is an ideal place to stop by for lunch as part of a whole family farm (and to plate) adventure. The great flavours continue at the Red Hill Baker in Balnarring, where an extensive selection of both savoury and sweet treats will tempt all the taste buds. Neighboured by Yawa Aquatic Centre, Elements Eatery in Rosebud offers a healthy and locally-inspired food experience as part of an environmentally conscious approach to poolside dining. And of course, make sure to stop by Mornington Peninsula Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery in Flinders for a decadent chocolate treat or cold ice cream on those warmer days.
