5 great family-friendly activities

Summer is here and so are school holidays, the perfect opportunity to fill the long sun-filled days with family-friendly fun on the Mornington Peninsula. To help inspire your plans, we have gathered 5 of our tried and tested favourites that young ones and the young at heart will adore.

Bring on memory-making activities for 2021, we have some catching up to do!

1. Rain Hayne and Shine Farmyard

Specially designed for children, Rain Hayne and Shine can be enjoyed by animal lovers of all ages. The farm is home to a diverse range of friendly farm animals where you can learn and experience through 'hands-on' activities. There are always plenty of animals to feed, cuddle and pat and if you are lucky enough, a baby one to bottle-feed. Children can ride on farm ponies or enjoy a free hayride with their parents. If farm animals are not enough, there are also emus and dingos to discover.

2. The Dromana Drive-In

Going to the movies is so much more than just a movie, it is an experience at Dromana 3 Drive-In. Re-live a classic era with your favourite guy or gal or bring the kids. Screening movies for all tastes, sit back and immerse yourself in the latest blockbuster. Come and 'dine with the stars' in Shel's Diner 50's style or grab a takeaway to have the whole experience from your car. Enjoy classic burgers and fries with a twist, milkshakes or ice creams under the stars.  Take a 'selfie' with a Hollywood icon or enjoy the abundance of movie memorabilia on offer.

3. Enchanted Adventure Garden

The Enchanted Adventure Garden is an award-winning natural fun park, featuring four hedge mazes, five giant tube slides, 20 themed gardens, an outdoor sculpture park and an indoor three-dimensional maze. This beautiful outdoor adventure park has something for everyone. Tree surfing on a high ropes adventure with zip lines, swinging rope bridges, suspended tunnels and a giant Tarzan swing set in the native trees of this ancient woodland garden. There are two courses to choose from, the Grand course for adults and teens and the Nippers course for young children.

4. Moonlit Sanctuary

This award-winning wildlife park invites you to come and visit and get an up-close look at Australia's unique animals. Explore the bushland while feeding kangaroos and wallabies, petting friendly koalas and encounters with colourful birds, reptiles, dingoes and many other animals including endangered species. More than 60 Australian species are waiting to meet you at Moonlit Sanctuary. Don’t forget to stop at the Koala Encounters to snap a photo with one of the cuddly little Australian icons. At night, Moonlit Sanctuary comes alive with their magic night tours. Join them on a unique wildlife safari, and you'll get up close to pythons, potoroos, tiny feathertail gliders, endangered quolls and many other animals in their natural nocturnal environment.

5. Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm

Explore the fields and taste the essence of Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm at the largest producer of strawberries in Australia. You are welcome to pick your own world-famous Sunny Ridge Strawberries or be tempted by the homemade fruit ice creams, heavenly berry inspired desserts and refreshments while relaxing in the cafe.
