Meet 3 Farmers And A Chef

The Mornington Peninsula has become as famous for its culinary experiences as it has for its rugged ocean beaches and gorgeous countryside. New chefs with new ideas and cuisines have joined established local favourites to create an impressive choice for food lovers. They take great pleasure in using the wall-to-wall produce available from local farms and kitchen gardens to deliver some of Australia’s best dining experiences - from funky cafes to fine dining restaurants.

The peninsula’s foodie scene has never been more vibrant and exciting, so it’s no wonder it was voted Australia’s 2018 Most Delicious Region, and reflecting all of this gourmet gorgeous-ness is the new and delicious ‘3 Farmers and a Chef’ event series. Imagine incredible seasonal, local goodies sourced from farmers and producers who love what they do and do it with passion. Take that produce and have it curated and prepared by a talented local chef and then presented at an idyllic and rarely accessed location... this is ‘3 Farmers + A Chef”.

On Saturday November 30th, the second ‘3 Farmers + a Chef’ event will be held in spectacular style. To make this magic happen 3 local farmers and producers have come together with an award winning chef;

Farmer Eddie Matt

Third generation farmer and grazier, Eddie Matt is committed to ethical, sustainable and traditional farming. His sleek Angus-Friesian X Limousin cows are respected and loved from paddock to plate.  Eddie grows his own high quality lucerne feed, and loves being able to produce the best beef naturally and chemical-free from his 110+ acre Hillock Downs farm in the rolling hills of Rye.

Cheesemaker Damien Noxon

Awarded ‘Champion Australian Medium Producer/Manufacturer’ at the 2019 Australian Food Awards, Damien Noxon of Main Ridge Dairy believes that happy goats make the best cheese. At his farmhouse cheesery and goat dairy the herd management is optimal, the milking is gentle, the cheeses are carefully made by hand, and the results are truly delicious.

Brewer Blake Bowden

Over the past 12 years, Blake Bowden has established a deep love and knowledge of the brewing craft and is responsible for beer recipe formulation at Jetty Road Brewery. He is all about quality and consistency while being innovative and pushing the envelope. Blake has worked alongside some of the leading local brewers and continues to participate in collaborative brews.

Chef Phil Wood

Phil Wood of Pt Leo Estate is a chef with an innate passion for regional produce. He makes time to meet the people who grow the produce to ensure their farming philosophy aligns with his. His style is creative, modern and innovative and understandably he has collected a multiple awards over his already-distinguished career – the latest being 2 Chefs Hats for Laura and 1 Chef Hat for Pt Leo Restaurant.

The ‘3 Farmers and a Chef’ event series heroes incredible seasonal, local produce prepared and presented for you by a talented local chef. Each event is different. Each is held in an idyllic location. Each event gives you the chance to meet three farmers and a chef. It is an opportunity to be immersed in the local foodie culture in an impressive way.

Join us on the gorgeous wine terrace overlooking the remarkable Pt Leo Estate sculpture park for a carefully curated journey through a hand-picked menu created from fresh seasonal Mornington Peninsula produce - including Hillock Downs beef, Main Ridge Dairy cheeses - and matched with Jetty Road brewery beers and beautiful Pt Leo Estate wines. This is your exclusive opportunity to gain behind the scenes access to producers from the Mornington Peninsula in a spectacular setting.
