5 Ways To Get Toasty On The Beer, Cider and Spirits Trail This Winter

While we have already passed the halfway mark of wintertime, the search for warming activities remains strong. And if there is any way to warm up the taste buds throughout these chilly weeks, a journey along the region’s Beer, Cider and Spirits Trail is sure to do the trick! So how will we get toasty? Explore more of some of the Mornington Peninsula's best breweries, distilleries and cider makers below, and let the adventure begin.

1. With A Seat By The Fire

Winter by the fire? Name a more iconic duo we say! There are some awesome places to cosy up for fireside dining along the Beer, Cider and Spirits Trail, from the history-laden St Andrews Beach Brewery in Fingal to the family-owned and operated Hickinbotham of Dromana. Set in the Dromana industrial estate, Jetty Road Brewery also delivers on a fireplace, standout flavours and good vibes time and time again.

For more fireside dining check out our blog on the Mornington Peninsula’s best fireside dining destinations. Read it here!

2. With A Winter-Inspired Drink In Hand

Warming up with a winter-inspired drink on the Mornington Peninsula is a must for the chilly season. For those who love a whisky, it’s at Chief’s Son Distillery in Somerville where you’ll discover big, bold and unique styles of award-winning single malt whisky. The Distillery Door at Bass and Flinders in Dromana invites visitors to experience a range of flavours, including the wintertime favourite brandy! Mulled wine on the mind? This is just one of the winter warmers on offer from JimmyRum Distillery in Dromana as part of their new hot drinks menu. And don’t forget about a delicious spiced rum cider or mulled apple juice from Mock Red Hill, or a Cidre Noir from the charming Hart’s Farm in Shoreham.

3. With Comfort Food On The Menu

Comfort food during winter? Now that’s an instant win! Alongside their downright legendary brews (including perfect-for-winter Brown Ales), many of the region’s breweries also have delish dishes and snacks on the menu. And trust us when we say, this is comfort food at its comfiest! At Banks Brewery in Seaford, the tasty taco takes centre stage with four signature offerings to try. If looking for the perfect pairings of beer with pizza or burgers, make sure to visit Escape Brewing in Capel Sound. And you won’t want to miss the ultimate winter warmers of nachos, ribs and wings at Red Hill Brewery. Anyone’s taste buds going wild?

4. Live Music

Along the Mornington Peninsula, you’ll find a rich live music scene at some of the region’s top breweries. Tar Barrel Brewery & Distillery in Mornington hosts talented musicians from Friday to Sunday while Jetty Road Brewery in Droman has live music every weekend.

5. With A Tasting Paddle/Flight

As you follow the region’s Beer, Cider and Spirits Trail, one of the best ways to sample the flavours of each destination is with a tasting paddle or flight! At Penni Ave Distillery in Rye, all four of their most popular vodkas are served up as part of a paddle - great to experience with friends! As Australia’s first dedicated gluten-free brewery and taproom, TWOBAYS Brewing Co in Dromana also offers paddles showcasing the flavours of their multiple friendly brews. Gin or vodka flights from That Spirited Lot Distillers in Seaford ensure everyone who stops by makes the most of their visit.
