3 Farmers And A Chef Past Event at Pt Leo Estate

A stroll through world class sculpture, a seat in a spectacular location, a creative inspirational menu, along with meeting the farmers, brewers and chef that make our region great.

The ‘3 Farmers and a Chef’ pop up event series celebrates the fresh Mornington Peninsula flavours in a bespoke seasonal feast. The second event was held on Saturday 30 November 2019, on Pt Leo Estate’s gorgeous wine terrace, overlooking the remarkable Pt Leo Estate Sculpture Park. Three of the region’s farmers and producers collaborated with an amazing award-winning Culinary Director Phil Wood, to produce a carefully curated journey through a hand-picked menu created from fresh and flavoursome Mornington Peninsula Produce.

Award winning chef Phil Wood of Pt Leo Estate created a delicious and delightful dinner, showcasing Angus-Friesian X Limousin beef from Hillock Downs  and quality goats cheeses from Main Ridge Dairy, all matched with beautiful Pt Leo Estate wine and refreshing beers from Jetty Road Brewery. The evening  included a stroll through the Sculpture Park - an event to remember!

The Mornington Peninsula’s renowned ‘3 Farmers and a Chef’ pop up event series has been reshaped into an incredible digital event series. Providing viewers a front-row seat in exploring the magnificent produce available within the region, the digital event series offers an exclusive tour and interactive cooking experience all within the click of a button! Follow Polperro’s distinguished Executive Chef Michael Demagistris as he forages the region in search for delicious, fresh seasonal ingredients to create his final dish - Country-farmed beef terrine served with spiced apple chutney, sourdough crisps and organic black garlic. Along the journey, meet three local farmers, each of whom provide a behind-the-scenes tour of their business, share the journey of their trade and showcase the produce of which they offer.

Meet 3 Farmers and A Chef

Miller Jason Cotter

Jason grows and mills heritage, ancient and modern grains at Tuerong Farm, Tuerong. He is passionate about diversity, nutrition and flavour in grains, and building a more resilient agriculture through diverse genetics and sustainable farming systems. Jason’s passion is reflected in the quality and variety of flour available at Tuerong Farm.

Orchardist Glenn Staples

Glenn Staples is a second-generation orchardist at Staples Apples, his family-owned apple and cherry orchard since 1953. Hosting a wide variety of apples, Staples Apples’ modern practices guarantee the incredible quality of their fruit, which continues to grow from strength to strength. Striving for a modern progressive orchard, Glenn is open to expanding their varieties as needs arise.

Farmer Eddie Matt

Eddie Matt, third generation farmer at Hillock Downs Produce Store, is committed to ethical, sustainable, and traditional farming. Growing his own high quality lucerne feed, Eddie is passionate about producing quality beef naturally and free of any chemicals.

Executive Chef Michael Demagistris

Executive Chef Michael Demagistris leads both kitchen venues at Polperro and Many Little. Having had his passion for food ingrained in him since childhood, Michael showcases delivering incredibly flavoursome food that emphasises the region’s local produce. Michael has developed a menu that highlights his culinary skills and thirst for innovation, as well as his love for foraging and sourcing the best produce the region has to offer.
