This walk starts from an old bunker site just off Defence Road where the track travels through the bush westwards to Eagles Nest. Perched on the side of a hill, Eagles Nest was the site of Australia’s largest 'Disappearing Gun'. Walk through the tunnel to enter the site itself with its ultramarine water visible through the arched ‘windows’.

A little further along Defence Road you find Fort Pearce. Established in 1911, this was designed to take advantage of the six inch Mark VII guns being introduced to coastal defence at that time. Today you can explore the lookouts from the fortifications with stunning views of Bass Strait. The Pearce Barracks site, just north west of Fort Pearce, is where many of the army personnel stationed at Point Nepean lived.
