Chickens are vulnerable to a wide range of predators, from foxes,to dogs and hawks. We’ll show you how to secure your coop and run using durable materials. You'll learn the importance of burying fencing at least 30 cm into the ground to stop digging predators and reinforcing doors with sturdy locks.
Good coop design goes beyond just protection. We’ll discuss the importance of space requirements to reduce stress and prevent pecking. We’ll cover optimal roosting bar designs.
Winter brings the challenge of keeping hens warm without sealing the coop too tightly. Proper ventilation is critical to prevent moisture buildup, which can cause issues.
Bedding plays a major role in insulation and coop hygiene. We’ll explain the pros and cons of popular bedding options, including hemp, wood shavings, and straw.
