It brings together everything you've learned—housing, nutrition, and care routines—and focuses on the daily and seasonal practices that prevent illness and ensure your flock stays strong.
In this session, you’ll gain essential knowledge to confidently monitor your hens’ well-being, recognize early warning signs of illness, and implement preventative practices that promote long-term health and productivity.
We’ll walk you through some of the most common backyard poultry ailments—including respiratory infections (like Infectious Bronchitis and ILT), mites and lice and internal parasites (like worms). You'll learn how to recognize symptoms and when veterinary care is necessary.
Prevention is always better than cure. Discover how to implement simple but effective biosecurity measures to protect your flock from disease, such as limiting exposure to wild birds, quarantining new birds before introduction, and regularly cleaning the coop and equipment. We’ll also cover nutritional health—why a balanced, poulty specific diet is important & clean water at hand.
By the end of this session, you’ll feel empowered to confidently manage your hens’ health with a proactive approach—ensuring a happy, thriving flock and a more enjoyable chicken-keeping experience.
