Earthly Delights: A Truffle Dinner and Hunt by Flinders Truffles & Polperro Winery

Saturday 26 July 2025 | From 6:30pm

Contact

Contact Name: Polperro Winery

Location

150 Red Hill Road
Red Hill South, 3937 Victoria

Join Polperro Executive Chef Gayan Pieris and Flinders Truffle’s Jane Groves as they take guests on a culinary adventure to showcase local freshly-harvested winter black truffles.

Enjoy these remarkable subterranean wonders at their best: at the peak of the season, in an exquisite chef’s menu designed to champion truffles. With each course matched with Polperro and Even Keel Wines, guests will enjoy a true taste of the Peninsula.

As an optional addition, we have just 20 spots available to book in for a truffle hunt with Jane and Tony from Flinders Truffles as your guide. The lucky guests will have the opportunity to get their hands dirty with a hunt and (fingers crossed!) a harvest. Numbers are extremely limited to ensure the best chance at success of unearthing a fresh truffle.

Truffle Hunt – what to expect.

Learn all about the fascinating world of truffles, along with Jane & Tony’s farming practices at Flinders Truffles, while sipping on a hot truffle soup. Meet the truffle scent dogs Lucy & Enzo, before entering the truffiere to watch them skilfully detect and mark fresh black truffles under the French Oak trees. Once truffle is detected, you will be shown how to gently check the truffle for readiness, before it is carefully unearthed. This is a truly hands-on experience: smell the soil and try your hand at gently unearthing a truffle. The harvest is then cleaned and graded before finishing off with an indulgent truffle and cheese toastie by the fire. Wrapping up at 5pm, guests will head home for a brief rest and refresh before dinner commences.

*Please note, this is an optional addition to the dinner booking but it is not possible to book in for the hunt only. *Fresh truffles & Flinders Truffle product range are available to try and purchase on the day. Duration: approx 3 hours

About Flinders Truffles

Nestled in the hills of the Mornington Peninsula, Flinders Truffles is a family-owned farm dedicated to producing the finest Winter Black Truffles. In 2017, rows of French Oak Trees were planted, each one carefully innoculated with the spores of the elusive black truffle. The years that followed were filled with patience and dedication until finally after four years, a first truffle was discovered. Each year that has followed, harvests have flourished, producing aromatic truffles loved by local chefs and Melbourne’s finest restaurants, food enthusiasts and curious visitors to the farm. Flinders Truffles is more than a business, it’s a way of life, a holistic, hands on labor of love, a respect for nature, and the magic hidden beneath the soil, that for a short moment each year, we all get to share.
