The Mornington Peninsula’s Hatted Restaurants Shine in The Age Good Food Guide 2025

The Mornington Peninsula has once again proven why it’s one of Australia’s most celebrated culinary destinations. From farm-to-fork dining and biodynamic vineyards to world-class chefs inspired by the land and sea, this region continues to set the benchmark for exceptional food experiences.

This year’s The Age Good Food Guide 2025 has awarded an incredible 15 hats to restaurants across the Mornington Peninsula, a recognition of the passion, innovation and produce that define our local dining scene.

Two Hats

  • Barragunda — Trailblazer Award Winner, a breathtaking coastal estate where sustainability meets fine dining.

  • Laura — Pt Leo Estate’s elegant expression of art and gastronomy.

  • Tedesca Osteria — Regional Restaurant of the Year; a biodynamic farm restaurant where every meal tells a story of the Mornington Peninsula.

  • Ten Minutes by Tractor — A refined yet grounded dining experience showcasing seasonal produce and award-winning wines.

One Hat

  • Doot Doot Doot — A sensory journey through flavour and design at Jackalope.

  • Many Little — A village gem in Red Hill, celebrating community, culture, and Sri Lankan-inspired cuisine.

  • Moke — Intimate modern Australian dining with heart in Flinders.

  • Montalto — Vineyard views meet produce-driven plates in this beloved Red Hill icon.

  • Polperro — Sophisticated, vineyard-to-table dining surrounded by vines.

  • Port Phillip Estate — A striking architectural setting for elegant European-inspired dishes.

  • Rare Hare — Playful and generous, with wood-fired dishes that celebrate the region’s best ingredients.

A Region Defined by Taste

From coast to hinterland, the Mornington Peninsula’s hatted restaurants reflect a shared philosophy of local produce, creative spirit, and a deep connection to place. Here, chefs work hand in hand with growers, winemakers, and artisans to craft unforgettable dining experiences that change with the seasons.

Whether you’re seeking a long lunch among the vines, an intimate dinner overlooking the sea, or a trailblazing fine dining experience, the Peninsula’s award-winning restaurants invite you to savour the very best of Victoria’s food and wine country.

Rare Hare at LL Vineyard

A food and wine affair, with a devil-may-care air.

Rare Hare is a special sort of place, defined by aspect, soil, and toil. Here, wines whisper a vinous vernacular, telling tales of seasons past and the winemaking cast. In this world, no vineyard, vintage, or wine is the same and every moment of enjoyment differs too – shaped by the bottle, milieu, food, or mood.

You are invited to savour the fruits of their labour, within view of the vines on which they were born. This is a place to ensconce in, not just see – where crafted curiosities from surrounding farms are best consumed excessively and between robust repartee.

With room for 90 tails, Rare Hare boasts indoor and outdoor dining overlooking the vine-laced hills and across to Jackalope Hotel’s striking silhouette. A hand-crafted wood-fired oven takes pride of place in the dining space.

Executive Chef, Scott Burness crafts seasonal dishes highlighting the finest produce with a good sense of curiosity and brings a tempting balance of heat, acidity, depth of flavour and texture to each plate.
