Just drive through our region, and the Peninsula's love affair with wine, fresh produce, seafood and bountiful food on the table is quickly revealed. Stride out on a beach walk then reward yourself with hot soup or a woodfired pizza and a glass of red wine in a seaside village. Return in the Spring for crisp, fresh vegies and cherry blossom.

You will find many wine, food and farmgate experiences hidden away throughout the Mornington Peninsula. You just need to know where to look. To help you discover them, we've brought the finest together to create the Mornington Peninsula Wine Food Farmgate Trail.

Fresh air and fabulous flavours

In some parts of the globe eating outdoors is generally reserved for the summer months. On the Mornington Peninsula, we try to do it all year round and think that autumn, with its milder weather, maybe the perfect time of year to enjoy all that is delicious

With so many homegrown and made options, here are a few of our favourite dining experiences you just have to try for yourself.

Ocean Beach Pavilion

Opening late in 2020, Ocean Beach Pavilion is the new kid on the Mornington Peninsula block.   Located centrally in the main street of Sorrento, Ocean Beach Pavilion is a casual restaurant and bar boasting various spaces and food outlets.  Not to be missed is the dining option GINGERGIRL, a vibrant Southeast Asian hawker-style street eats inspired by GingerBoy by Taege Ezard. For families with children in tow, venture down to the expansive open-air terrace and enjoy free entertainment as you overlook the Sorrento Ninja Warrior Course – a playground for the kiddos (and the kids at heart).

St Andrews Beach Brewery

St Andrews Beach Brewery serves up freshly brewed characterful beers, something to eat and even better conversations in a truly unique outdoor space.  Once a working racehorse training facility, the outdoor stables have been converted into chic sitting areas for groups to complement the Beer Garden. Opening to the public after Easter is The Birdcage.  Super casual yet stylish as its namesake The Birdcage will offer the same terrific beer and drinks menu in the indoor/outdoor bar and an ever-changing menu of street eats inspired by guest food trucks.

Red Hill Brewery

As the Mornington Peninsula's original brewery some 15 years young, Red Hill Brewery presents a fresh new rustic outdoor beer garden after a recent lockdown makeover.  Their crew offer a relaxing vibe with beer-friendly dishes on the menu, including bar snacks to slow-roasted meats and burgers to complement their award-winning, handcrafted beers

Wine Terrace at Pt Leo Estate

At the Pt. Leo Estate Wine Terrace, guests can enjoy all Pt. Leo Estate wines and back vintages, friendly snacks and light meals in a simple and social environment. The menu includes a broad selection of Pt. Leo Estate wines, locally brewed beers and wines from neighbouring vineyards. Guests can enjoy live music throughout the weekends while taking in the unparalleled views of the 50-acre vineyard, Sculpture Park and the Westernport coastline beyond.

Foxey’s Hangout

Enjoy an informal lunch at Foxey’s Hangout Winery in an architect-designed space with vineyard views over the valley. Designed to share, the team encourage you to sample a little of everything with small plates of all the best seasonal inspired dishes for a light lunch. A walk-in venue – no bookings are required but keep in mind they can seat a maximum of 4 people per group. Wine tastings are available for 7 days.

Polperro Winery

Polperro Winery offers alfresco dining overlooking their stunning 25-acre property in the heart of Red Hill. Creating a synergy between the vineyard and kitchen, the team incorporates the seasonal harvests from the estate into the constantly evolving restaurant menu. They offer fresh, textural, and seasonal flavours with an emphasis on the food source.

Peninsula Picnics

Romantic charm wraps our plans as we dream of gorgeous spreads of gourmet delights on the humble picnic rug.  We believe things do taste better outdoors, especially if we are sampling flavours specific to our landscape.  As we make the most of the stunning autumn weather, we have gathered our favourite picnic spots to let you in on all the local secrets.

Time to start planning.  Catch up with friends for a long weekend, book a special occasion for a holiday, or just give yourself a mid-week treat with a delicious meal with a loved one. With so many choices, autumn is looking good already.
