Ride a railway, climb a lighthouse

Just when you think you’ve ticked off all the things to do here, you’ll find some more. Like… lantern-lit tours in a wildlife sanctuary when rare nocturnal Australian animals emerge. Animals have endless appeal, whether it’s the cute sheep and chooks on boutique farms or the impressive thoroughbreds lining up for the next race at Mornington.

Our wetlands, woodlands and coastal lands are havens for koalas, kangaroos, wombats, wallabies and thousands of native birds. If you're short on time, attractions such as our farmyard, wildlife park and nocturnal sanctuary will make it very easy for you to see koalas, kangaroos, wombats and wallabies, farm animals which the kids can cuddle or pat, and the creatures that only come out at night such as quolls, bettongs, owls and sugar gliders.

For some old fashioned family fun, take the tribe to the Drive In at Dromana. With three screens it is one of only a few drive ins left in Victoria. History buffs generally head straight for attractions such as the 1850s Cape Schanck lighthouse perched high on a cliff, or the old steam railway train that chugs between Moorooduc and Mornington.
