Ready for a crash course in Western music? Whether you’re new to orchestras or a seasoned listener, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will take you on a tour through the ages.
From Haydn’s La Passione of the ‘storm and stress’ era to Matthew Locke’s The Tempest, inspired by Shakespeare’s sea storm, the program traces music shaped by emotion and drama. C.P.E. Bach’s Sinfonia reveals the foundations of this style and offers the rare chance to hear the MSO perform a period work, led by early music expert Chad Kelly.
Principal Horn Nicolas Fleury stars in Mozart’s Horn Concerto. Though not Melbourne-born, both artists now call the city home. Wherever you’re coming from, we look forward to sharing this jam-packed concert with you.
