Glass Child is a moving exploration of the sibling bond between Kayah, a young man with Down Syndrome, and his sister Maitreyah. Through dance, theatre and storytelling, it reveals their connection and how others’ perceptions have shaped their lives.
The term “Glass Child” describes siblings of people with special needs, often overlooked while supporting the family. Kayah has faced exclusion and ridicule, while Maitreyah has witnessed it without always understanding why. The performance examines their love, resilience, and the ways difference challenges—and strengthens—relationships.
As Maitreyah reflects: “Kayah is a brother of blood, but also a friend I rely on… he sees spiritual beauty in places where I do not.” Kayah shares: “I want people to see inside me and Maitreyah—the love, frustration, anger and the flower I have for her.”
