Diwali at Peninsula Hot Springs

Contact Name: Peninsula Hot Springs

Location

140 Springs Lane
Fingal , 3939 Victoria

Diwali, the festival of lights, celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and the joy of coming together as community. This special performance brings that spirit to life through music, guided by curator and previous Peninsula Hot Springs Artist In Residence, Dr Sarita McHarg's cultural ethos of light, generosity and abundance, expressed live with her collaborative ensemble Resonant Heart and special guests.

At the heart of the evening is North Indian music, its rich melodies and rhythms opening into conversation with sounds from Persian, West Asian, Balkan and New Zealand traditions. Rather than simply sharing a stage, these artists create together, weaving their distinct musical languages into something new. It is a celebration that reflects the many cultures that meet and flourish in Australia today.

Set against the natural beauty of Peninsula Hot Springs, this special Diwali performance invites guests to slow down, listen deeply and share in a moment of connection across all cultures.

The program features Dr Sarita McHarg (Sitar, dholak, vocals ), Jay Dagbar (Tabla), Irine Vela (guitar, laouto, vocals), Vahideh Eisaei (Qanun, vocals ), Yuval Ashkar (Oud, vocals), Kelly Dowall (vocals/clarinet, ney flute, frame drum) & Dr Nela Trifkovic (vocals, frame drum, harmonium).
