Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

The latest to join the Mornington Peninsula’s craft distillery network is the JimmyRum Distillery in Dromana. Founder and head distiller, James McPherson has decided to take his passion for rum to a whole new level and build Victoria’s first and only dedicated Rum distillery - now one of only a select few across Australia.

JimmyRum aims to teach Australians what rum can truly be. After 20 years at sea as a marine engineer experiencing some of the best rums in the world, James had the realisation that Australia was missing out and an in-house joke that he should start his own rum distillery saw the birth of JimmyRum. James is now the proud owner and head distiller at his own up and coming distillery that has recently opened to the public in Dromana on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula.

It began with a release of their first product “Barbados” in December 2018, and their second product “Silver” in January 2019. With the range set to expand with other products already in the works, it won’t be long before you’ll be seeing his bottles on the shelves at your favourite bars and pubs around the Mornington Peninsula.

It’s been 3years of hard work and determination from James and his team, but with no signs of slowing down JimmyRum is set to make a big splash for the rum industry in Australia.

At the moment you can check out the distillery for a tour, tasting and chat with Jimmy on weekends, but there are plans for a fully operational bar in the near future.
