Overlooking the picturesque vista of Mothers Beach and Mornington Pier, this is a beautiful location to spend some quality playtime. Found at the end of Main Street, a thriving hub for cafes, shops, restaurants, ice cream and great coffee, you can be sure to enjoy all the local culinary delights available for takeaway before or after a park visit. Kids can let their imaginations run wild, walk the plank, steer the ship or play pirate on the central wooden 'pirate ship'. The sea-themed playground includes a slide, flying fox and swings, as well as some epic climbing trees to explore. With shaded areas, drinking water and toilets close by, it has all the ingredients for a great day of play.
Surrounded by the beauty of tall eucalypt trees, the Red Hill Station Reserve sits at the hub of an expansive network of trails for walkers, horse riders and bike riders alike. Located in the hinterlands of the peninsula, the Reserve seeks to recognise the heritage of the original Red Hill Railway that carried fresh produce to Melbourne. In harmony with its natural surrounds, the playground nestles quietly among native plantings. Children can play on nest swings, swings or crawl through tunnels to explore. Picnic tables and BBQ make the Reserve a beautiful environment to spend time together.
Rye Foreshore Reserve Playground
This much-loved foreshore playground, built by 700 volunteers from the Rye community is directly opposite the Rye town centre. Inspired by all things nautical, children can let their imaginations run wild under the sea - meeting mermaids, friendly fish and cheeky crabs, or even a daring pirate or two as they explore. Little hands can climb lighthouses, steer boats to find new adventures or even a treasure chest. A beautiful feature is a tile mosaic of children's illustrations. The fully enclosed park, with a single entrance, makes for a safe play combined with stunning views of Port Phillip. This playground has thought of everyone with its accessible footpath for prams and wheelchairs.
Rosebud Foreshore Playground is worth putting on your Mornington Peninsula playground bucket list! Part of the Destination Rosebud project, this beautifully designed space near the beach, lets children of all ages find their perfect play option. Whether whooshing down the mountain slides, feeling the wind in their hair on the flying fox or watching the world blur on spinning discs, kids will love it. With rope climbs, swings and multi-level terrain to explore, this playground has lots of choices to keep all entertained. Accessible by bike (the Bay Trail is close by) or car, the park is close to some delicious local food options, including ice cream! Watch the ships go by from the well-placed picnic and BBQ area overlooking the bay. Car parking is in an abundance of parking within 150 metres walk from the park.
Sorrento Park
This beautiful community-built playground overlooks the spectacular views of Port Phillip. In a lovely show of local support, names of the volunteers who built the space, feature on panels adorning the play area. Children can play at being kings, queens and dragon hunters in the large wooden castle-like structure made for imaginations to roam free. Mazes of tunnels and gangways let children explore. Numerous slides and swings mean there is space to accommodate plenty of turns for eager children of every age.
