Archibald Prize Coming To The Mornington Peninsula

The Archibald Prize 2023, a prestigious and popular art competition, will be on display at the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, showcasing 57 portraits that feature figures and cultural identities from all walks of life. These portraits reflect the stories of our times and are sure to captivate art lovers.

As the first stop on the Archibald Prize 2023 regional tour and the only location in Victoria, the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery is honoured to host this renowned portrait prize from 15 September to 5 November. This exclusive event will attract visitors from all across the State to the Mornington Peninsula, who will have the opportunity to enjoy the works on display and participate in the immersive program of events and art experiences.

The Archibald Prize, established in 1921, is more than a century old and is judged by the trustees of the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Its long-standing tradition of recognizing exceptional portraiture has made it a highly respected and anticipated event in the Australian art scene.
